Wayne Clawater, the managing partner of the firm, is an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a B.B.A. He furthered his education at the South Texas College of Law in Houston, graduating with the highest honors in 1981.
Following a year as a briefing attorney for the Supreme Court of Texas, Mr. Clawater joined Andrews & Kurth, eventually rising to the position of partner. In 1993, he departed Andrews & Kurth to become a shareholder in a mid-size litigation firm. However, in 1999, he reunited with some of his former Andrews & Kurth partners at Cruse, Scott, Henderson & Allen, later renamed Scott, Clawater & Houston.
Throughout his career, Mr. Clawater has adeptly represented clients in various lawsuits and proceedings, encompassing personal injuries and commercial matters. His extensive litigation experience comprises numerous cases and jury trials involving medical and legal malpractice, breach of fiduciary duties, workplace injuries, contract and energy-related disputes, and trade secrets violations.
In addition to his courtroom experience, Mr. Clawater represents clients in administrative proceedings before the Texas Medical Board and the State Bar of Texas. His accomplishments have earned him a coveted membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates, an honor reserved for lawyers with significant trial experience who are recognized for their legal and courtroom skills by their peers.
In addition to his legal achievements, Mr. Clawater has served as the President of the Board of Trustees for the Christ Church Cathedral Endowment Fund, on the Board of Directors of the John E. Hines Center for Spirituality and Prayer, and as the Senior Warden of Christ Church Cathedral, Houston. Married to Hollee Hedge Clawater, they are proud parents and grandparents of two daughters and four grandchildren.
