Cynthia Freeman was born in Gainesville, Texas, and grew up in Houston. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in English in 1982.

Ms. Freeman worked as a secretary and legal assistant in Austin for many years before returning to Houston to attend law school. She graduated with honors from the University of Houston Law Center in December 1993.

Ms. Freeman practiced law as a solo practitioner for six years, during which time she handled plaintiffs’ personal injury, employment law, and family law matters and tried cases in state and bankruptcy courts. She left the practice of law for a few years to become a middle school teacher with Houston Independent School District and spend more time with her daughter. In 2003, she returned to law when she joined Scott, Clawater & Houston as an Associate.

Ms. Freeman’s current practice is focused on administrative board complaints and civil litigation matters involving professional negligence defense. She is licensed to practice in the State of Texas and the U.S. Southern District of Texas and is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association.

Active in the Houston community, Ms. Freeman has volunteered with HISD, the Houston-area Girl Scouts, and has served on the Bellaire Parks & Recreation Board.
