Attorney Biographies

David McTaggart, a native of Denver, Colorado, raised in Waco, Texas, brings a wealth of legal experience to his practice. After graduating with honors from Baylor University in 1989 with a BA in Business Administration, Mr. McTaggart’s educational journey continued with enrollment in Baylor University Law School in February 1990, where he earned a JD in August 1992.

Post-law school, Mr. McTaggart commenced his legal career as an associate at the Houston litigation law firm of McFall and Sartwelle, focusing primarily on the defense of physicians and hospitals in medical negligence cases for 2 ½ years. Subsequently, he spent four years with the firm of Weinstein and Clawater, handling a wide range of cases, including medical malpractice, product liability, and general negligence.

In February 1999, Mr. McTaggart joined Cruse, Scott, Henderson, and Allen, where he served as a partner, specializing in medical malpractice and product liability cases. After 17 years with the firm, he broadened his experience by working with CNA Insurance and Chubb Insurance companies from 2016 to 2022, handling various personal injury-related cases.

Returning to Scott, Clawater, and Houston (formerly Cruse, Scott, Henderson, and Allen) in April 2022, Mr. McTaggart’s practice encompasses medical malpractice defense, commercial litigation, general negligence defense, and legal malpractice defense. He is licensed to practice in Texas state courts and the Southern District of Texas, and he has been a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) since 2011.

Beyond his legal pursuits, Mr. McTaggart and his family are actively involved in several children’s cancer organizations, including The Sunshine Kids, Candlelighters, The Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and Mothers Against Cancer. This seasoned attorney not only brings expertise to his practice but also a strong commitment to community service.
