Attorney Biographies

David McTaggart, a native of Denver, Colorado, raised in Waco, Texas, brings a wealth of legal experience to his practice. After graduating with honors from Baylor University in 1989 with a BA in Business Administration, Mr. McTaggart continued his education at Baylor University Law School in February 1990, where he earned a JD in August 1992.

Following law school, Mr. McTaggart commenced his legal career as an associate at the Houston litigation law firm of McFall and Sartwelle, focusing primarily on the defense of physicians and hospitals in medical negligence cases. In February 1999, Mr. McTaggart joined Cruse, Scott, Henderson & Allen, where he made partner, focusing on medical malpractice, product liability, and general negligence.

After 17 years with the firm, he broadened his experience by working with CNA Insurance and Chubb Insurance companies from 2016 to 2022, handling various personal injury-related cases. Mr. McTaggart returned to Scott, Clawater & Houston (formerly Cruse, Scott, Henderson & Allen) in April 2022. Mr. McTaggart’s practice at Clawater & Associates encompasses medical malpractice defense and Texas Medical Board representation. He is licensed to practice in Texas state courts and the Southern District of Texas, and he has been a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) since 2011.

Beyond his legal pursuits, Mr. McTaggart and his family are actively involved in several children’s cancer organizations, including The Sunshine Kids, Candlelighters, The Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and Mothers Against Cancer. This seasoned attorney not only brings expertise to his practice but also a strong commitment to community service.
