
David McTaggart
David McTaggart was born in Denver, Colorado, and grew up in Waco, Texas. He graduated with honors from Baylor University in 1989 with a BA in Business Administration.
After one season playing for a semi-pro indoor soccer team, Mr. McTaggart enrolled in Baylor University Law School in February 1990. He graduated with a JD from Baylor in August 1992.
After completing law school, Mr. McTaggart worked as an associate for 2 ½ years at the Houston litigation law firm of McFall and Sartwell, where his practice focused primarily on the defense of physicians and hospitals in medical negligence cases. He then practiced for 4 years with the firm of Weinstein and Clawater. Mr. McTaggart handled medical malpractice, product liability, and general negligence cases.
In February 1999, Mr. McTaggart joined the firm of Cruse, Scott, Henderson, and Allen, where he handled medical malpractice and product liability cases as a partner for the firm. He left Cruse, Scott, Henderson, and Allen after 17 years and worked for CAN Insurance and Chubb from 2016 to 2022, handling various personal injury-related cases.
Mr. McTaggart re-joined Scott, Clawater, and Houston (f/k/a Cruse, Scott, Henderson, and Allen) in April 2022, where his practice consists of medical malpractice defense, commercial litigation, general negligence defense, and legal malpractice defense.
Mr. McTaggart is licensed to practice in Texas state courts and in the Southern District of Texas. He has been an American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) member since 2011. Mr. McTaggart and his family are extensively involved in several children’s cancer organizations, including The Sunshine Kids, Candlelighters, The Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and Mothers Against Cancer.
