Cynthia Freeman was born in Gainesville, Texas and grew up in Houston. She was 16 when she graduated from Cy-Fair High School and enrolled in the University of Texas at Austin. She made a few detours on her path to earning an undergraduate degree in English, working at various times as a switchboard operator, telephone lineman, apprentice carpenter, taxicab driver, proofreader, and secretary, and once joining a circus.
After graduating UT, Ms. Freeman worked as a secretary and legal assistant for personal injury attorney Bob Gibbins in Austin for many years before returning to Houston to attend law school. She graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in December, 1993 with honors. Ms. Freeman practiced law as a solo practitioner for six years, during which time she handled plaintiffs’ personal injury, employment law, and family law matters, and tried cases in state and bankruptcy courts. She left the practice of law for a few years to become a middle school teacher with HISD and spend more time with her daughter. In 2003, she returned to law when she joined the firm as an associate.
She mainly works on administrative board complaints and civil litigation matters involving professional negligence defense. She has been Girl Scout cookie mom, volunteer to HISD, and has served on the Bellaire Parks & Recreation Board. Ms. Freeman is licensed to practice in the State of Texas and the U.S. Southern District of Texas. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association.
